We Understand

We understand you may feel stressed whilst on assessment, or you may have experienced past difficulties. To help with this we are able to offer holistic emotional support and psychological input free of charge.

One to one counselling

This confidential service is available to you from the start of your assessment, providing you with a safe place to talk freely about your situation and any worries you may have

Psychological Education

This is a weekly group/counselling session. These sessions are ‘resident’ led, meaning you are able to decide what topics you would like to discuss. You may wish to look at strategies in how to manage your feelings, anxiety, working with professionals or healthy relationships, these are just a few examples. This session promotes empowerment. Information shared would not be used as part of your assessment unless there were any safeguarding concerns

Art Therapy

Here we provide a calming environment in our Family room away from your day to day assessment. You will be able to relax and reflect, whilst participating in the activity provided by an art therapist. You do not need to be an artist to appreciate these weekly sessions our hope is you will find this time valuable, re-charge and consider your situation without other distractions and daily stresses. (Baby sitting will be offered during this session)

One to one session with a Psychologist

These sessions are delivered by a fully qualified and registered Psychologist who will also work with the social worker and residential team. This provision helps families that may have complex mental health difficulties. Information from this means staff will know how to best work with parents who may have psychological difficulties and enable parents to have the best possible chance of success. You can feel re-assured that your children will be in safe hands as staff care for them whilst giving you the time to engage in the above.

Days Out

We also have a minibus so are able to transport you and your family with other residents to local attractions, this is all funded through our kind donators. You may not be familiar with the area but can feel at ease, supported by staff, visiting local parks, garden centre’s and child focused attractions such as ‘Chillie Kiddies’ free of charge. These activities promote social skills and allow you to enjoy family time away from the centre.
